Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Health Services Research Physician to join the full-time faculty in the Division of General Internal Medicine. Cedars-Sinai is a community-based health system with a national reputation for outstanding clinical care, a sizeable and growing cadre of NIH-funded investigators, and highly regarded residencies and fellowships in diverse medical and surgical disciplines.
The successful candidate for this position will have the ability or potential to effectively lead research teams and compete for extramural funding, as evidenced by previous experience and peer-reviewed publications. Training should include a fellowship and/or graduate degree program in health services or related fields. Research interests should directly relate to clinical practice and be compatible with the mission of Cedars-Sinai, such as advancing the standard of care or improving the quality and value of healthcare. Applicants can be at the Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor level. The researcher should communicate effectively and exhibit initiative, excellent interpersonal skills, and a collaborative attitude.
The faculty member will have opportunities for mentorship and collaboration both within an outside the institution. This includes access to the Cedars-Sinai Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CS-CORE, which conducts Health Services Research), the Cedars-Sinai biostatistical core, the Cedars-Sinai Clinical Translational Research Center, and other core research services. He or she will apply for academic appointments at both Cedars-Sinai and UCLA School of Medicine, where Cedars-Sinai is one of four member institutions of an NIH-funded Clinical Translational Science Institute. Faculty members may consider applying for simultaneous affiliations with RAND or the UCLA School of Public Health.
Research will be the faculty member’s primary responsibility (75% time); remaining time will be spent on clinical care (hospital medicine, primary care, palliative care, or other related fields) and teaching. Cedars-Sinai is a major training site for medical students from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
