As the Healthcare Economics Consultant, you will design and develop reports and analyze data to measure clinical outcomes, network performance and methodology levers. You will investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and health care costs data. Along with your team, you will identify potential areas for medical cost improvements and alternative pricing strategies. And start doing your life's best work.(sm) Primary Responsibilities:Develop analytic models to evaluate financial impact of business strategies to manage pharmaceutical spend and trend Assist in the development of strategic initiatives aimed at improving the access and affordability of healthcare Assist, interpret, and help analyze pharmaceutical claims and cost trends to identify management opportunities and measure the impact of strategy implementation Develop tools that track strategies and process improvements post-implementation Help on projects by contributing to database creation, statistical modeling and financial reports Analyze reporting tools utilized by the internal customer groups
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Actuarial Math, Statistics, Economics, or a related field 3+ years of experience in an analytics capacity and evidence of creative, proactive problem solving At least an intermediate level of proficiency working with MS Excel and PowerPoint including formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, etc. Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities Beginner level of proficiency with MS AccessPreferred Qualifications:Experience in the healthcare insurance industry Beginner level proficiency with SQL, SAS and/or other statistical programs Careers with UnitedHealthcare.
