Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Technician.
Under the direction of the P.I., the Research Technician is responsible for ordering, lab reagent inventory and collaborating with laboratory members in mouse colony management. Must be able to follow protocols and perform molecular biology related techniques including but not limited to: PCR, plasmid preparation, cloning, DNA agarose gels, restriction digest, DNA extraction, and biochemical work protein work, tissue extraction, protein concentration estimation, SDS acrylamide gel electrophoresis, Western blot analyses, and immunoprecipitation. Performs routine histology, immunohistochemistry and mouse work. Maintains mouse colonies, tail clip and ear tag and genotypes mice.

Performs PCR genotype of mouse tail DNA extracts
Responsible for maintaining inventory of mouse colonies.
Prepares routine laboratory solutions and reagents.
Performs plasmid extraction, RNA extraction, and gel electrophoresis
Maintains meticulous laboratory notebooks.
Maintains good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
Adheres to and complies with all IRB, human subjects research policies, IACUC, HIPAA, Federal and institutional policies and procedures regarding biohazardous materials handling and disposal; chemical handling and disposal and policies relevant to laboratory research and safety.
Prepares and submits annual renewal requests, amendments and adverse event (AE) reports with clinical input according to IRB and sponsor requirements. Adheres to all protocol requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.
Maintains current knowledge of and complies with Good Clinical Practices, ICH Guidelines and departmental research and institutional research policies.
Ensures accuracy and timeliness of data collection so that information may be used by P.I. in planning of grant writing, presentations, and publication.
Meets with P.I. to review data accuracy and overall study progress.
Participates in all mandatory meetings to develop increasing knowledge of assigned research and clinical trials. Attends educational lectures and conferences.
Prepares and stores specimens according to institutional and Federal guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications: 1) Bachelors degree in science with a preferred focus in Biology. 2) Prior work experience in a research laboratory required. 3) Ability to use Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint and MS Office suite of software. Graphpad, and Adobe Photoshop. 4) Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities simultaneously. 5) Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. 6) Excellent organizational and time management skills required and be able to work independently and excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to work well with other professionals with minimal supervision and comfort being part of a diverse professional team.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
