Family Design Resources, Inc. (FDR) is an innovative non-profit social service consulting agency that helps organizations serving children and families. Our talented and caring staff works to enhance the lives of children, youth and families through the provision of technical and legal assistance, training, consultation, program development, evaluation and curriculum development.
In 2000, in partnership with Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries (DLSM), FDR assumed management responsibility for the programs and services administered to children and families through the SWAN contract. The contract was reawarded to the partnership of DLSM and FDR in 2005, 2010 and 2015 for a second, third and fourth five-year term.
Since the agency’s founding, FDR’s scope has extended beyond the borders of child welfare to involve the education, mental health and juvenile justice systems. With continued growth and expansion the agency now employs over 300 employees throughout the state and has celebrated eighteen years of operation in 2017, and looks forward to continued growth and new partnerships.
Our co-founder and Executive Director is retiring and we are searching for an Executive Director to continue the advancement of FDR’s vision and mission. Our Executive Director leads the agency and is directly accountable and responsible for the overall success of the agency through strategic planning, program management, fiscal accountability and administrative leadership and by working with and maintaining a direct line of communication with the Department of Human Services SWAN Director and Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries manager assigned to the SWAN prime contract.
Primary duties may include the following: Collaborates with the Board of Directors to support the strategic direction, program development and community outreach efforts of the agency.
Provides fiscal oversight and develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the agency
Promotes the agency's expertise and knowledge to create new products and programs.
Supervises the identification and development of corporate, community and individual prospects to participate or partner in funding and/or grant programs at local, state and national levels
Serves as a local and national spokesperson to promote local programs as a model for regional and national replication
Provides direction to ensure efficient and effective agency operations

Master’s Degree in Social Services, Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field
Minimum 10 years of senior management experience coupled with advanced knowledge of child welfare and permanency practice.
Proficient at fundraising, contract and budget negotiation
A persuasive and passionate communicator
Provides leadership to guide and inspire staff
Is self-directed with the ability to demonstrate, initiative, the desire to strive to continually improve processes and relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
Builds trust and accountability through sound ethics and integrity, personal credibility and a high degree of responsiveness.
Ability to engage audiences at training and public speaking events
