Provide instruction to first year dental hygiene students in (DEN102) Oral Tissues II (2 credit course) during the Spring 2018 semester (January 22 - May 15, 2018) on Tuesdays from 1:00-3:00 P.M. This course includes information on the basic histology of the teeth and supporting structures of the oral cavity. The second part of the course covers the anatomy of the head and neck with emphasis on the bones of the skull, muscles, nerves and blood supply to the oral structures.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
Select and develop appropriate materials and technology for class use.
Assess student progress related to defined student outcomes.
Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
Master's degree in Dental Hygiene or related field.
Massachusetts Dental / Dental Hygiene License.
Teaching experience in a college setting or equivalent.
Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
Ability to create a classroom environment that supports learning and student success.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience teaching Oral Tissues / head and neck anatomy in a community college setting
Evidence of current teaching methodologies, including experiences with media, innovative use of evolving instructional technologies in the classroom, and the use of learning management systems such as Moodle
Skill in implementing active and collaborative learning strategies
Effective pedagogical and teaching skills.
Experience using evidence based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
COMPENSATION: Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale; part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.
