The Community Relations Liaison is responsible for community liaison activities between community boards, local residents, civic, educational, religious and governmental organizations and neighborhood community groups and manages and coordinates functions whose focus is to grow community support for the Museum's initiatives. They will manage and implement Museum projects related to community concerns and issues, Museum initiatives, and overall relationship-building within the community.
The Community Relations Liaison will:
- Create and manage the construction team's community affairs outreach strategy and activities, including: developing and conducting proactive outreach strategy, developing bi-weekly emails informing the public of upcoming construction activity, and creating monthly newsletters informing the public of different aspects of the project.
- Work continuously to improve the Museum's presence and availability with Community Boards, Community Advisory Boards, Community Leaders, faith leaders, local residents, elected and public officials through attending various community meetings, public meetings, forums, and events (some of which may take place outside of normal business hours during the evening)
- Represent the AMNH Construction Team at the above-mentioned Community-Based Meetings
- Provide excellent and prompt writing, generate fresh ideas about communications, and actively seek and identify publicity and communications opportunities that enhance the Museum's reputation
- Create, develop and present standard talking points/presentations related to the Museum's construction projects, for the purpose of highlighting the overall mission of the project
- Expand community affairs outreach database with community contacts, and proactively research and identify new strategic community outreach opportunities with CBOs and other potential allies to support new and existing projects
- Address concerns and requests for information from the community, general public and elected officials, assuring prompt responses and follow-up
- Manage assigned tasks related to planning and community affairs programs and provide tracking, constituency outreach, development of briefing and research documents, and oversight of special projects as they arisen
