Rutgers School of Public Health is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant to conduct virtual systemic social observation (SSO) of neighborhoods to directly observe and rate neighborhood characteristics. The resulting measures will be linked to datasets with individual health information to statistically test whether SSO measures cause various health outcomes.
Rates various NJ neighborhood features, as seen in Google Street View Images.
Attends periodic monthly research team meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Currently pursuing or completed a Master of Public Health degree.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in such computer skills as MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of social factors, social epidemiology, health disparities.
As successful SSO, relies on familiarity with the areas to be rated, therefore, preference will be given to applicants who have extensive experience with New Jersey.
