This employee is responsible for collaborating on the development and implementation of system-wide mission initiatives and formation programming and strategy at SSM Health (SSMH).
Works in collaboration with System Mission-Values Integration staff and Regional Directors – Mission, Ethics, and Pastoral Care to develop the SSMH formation program. Delivers elements of the SSMH formation program.
Works with colleagues to establish effectiveness measures for mission and formation, monitor their quality, and identify and respond to opportunities for improvement.
Leads the development and implementation of mission activities, events, and celebrations (Mission Days, Heritage Week, Mission Awards, etc.) throughout all SSMH entities, including all hospitals and other outpatient care sites.
Ensures that the mission, heritage, and values of SSMH are adequately incorporated into employee onboarding processes and ongoing initiatives.
Organizes, implements, and expands opportunities for employee participation in live and virtual Heritage Tours across the system.
Ensures that all entities have an organized Mission Awareness Team that functions in accordance with system best practices and quality expectations.
Develops resources to support Mission Awareness Teams and mission activities.
Collaborates with HR on the coordination of crisis intervention services and ensures a fair process for accessing the Employee Relief Fund and Employee Assistance Program.
Develops annual needs assessments for purposes of program development.
Ensures that system-wide mission integration policies conform with Catholic theological commitments and develops revisions as necessary. Writes and revises new policies as necessary.
Champions succession planning programs for mission, ethics, and pastoral care to support these departments into the future.
Manages system-level pastoral care projects necessary to furthering the long-term strategic vision for Pastoral Care.
Maintains effective relationships with the leadership team of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary.
Remains current on developments in Catholic health care, Catholic theology, ethics, and formation; keeps relevant leaders informed of important developments in these fields and ensures that SSM practices and strategies are guided by best practices in the field.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with external constituents in the fields of theology and formation.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Advanced degree in theology
In-depth knowledge of Catholic moral and social traditions, health care ethics, health care ministry, theEthical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, and best practices in ethics consultation, formation, and pastoral care.
Understanding of operational, financial, and administrative aspects of health care.
Highly developed interpersonal and communicative skills to interact and present tactfully and persuasively with parties internal and external to SSMH.
Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities with attentiveness to completion in a timely manner.
