As a Financial Counselor at the International Center, you will facilitate all billing and account receivable communications between Memorial Sloan Kettering and Foreign Embassies.
Represent MSK both on-site and off-site when traveling to each Embassy
Potential travel to each Embassy in Washington D.C. to meet with the Director of Finance, Accounting, and the Health Attaché to discuss outstanding balances, future patients, financial obligations, etc.
Identify patterns and underlying causes of Embassy/patient complaints and questions
Possess detailed knowledge of billing procedures and policies for all MSK sites to resolve Embassy questions by providing excellent service and communicating MSK's billing practices and procedures, including payment requirements and insurance processing procedures
Respond to the requests of Embassy, patient and/or family members regarding hospital and physician bills as well as insurance coverage, MSK policies, and out-of-pocket costs
Responsible for Embassy A/R management, creating reports, and resolving billing specific inquiries.
Be primary point of contact with the Embassy for all financial matters
Provide support to Foreign Financial Counselors team including verification of benefits, self-pay account reconciliation, and responding to patient inquiries
Create and maintain relationships with various partnerships and insurance carriers
A Bachelor's degree (preferred) or a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in patient revenue, a medical facility, physician's office or insurance carrier and International/Global communication
Bilingual in English/Arabic (strongly preferred)
Prior knowledge of international healthcare benefit plans (preferred)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills and a knowledge of and sensitivity to different cultures and needs of foreign visitors
Must be flexible and willing to re-prioritize assignments, if needed, to meet departmental goals
