In this position, you'll play a pivotal role in setting a course for the design of the George Fox University website. We're looking for strong designer who will bring a unique vision for the George Fox University website, yet will still be able to match the brand's look and feel. You have high standards and want to get it right for every user on every device every time.
Design is more important for this position than coding experience; we're not looking for a developer or a programmer. We're willing to train an excellent designer with minimal skills in HTML and CSS how to build their design for the web if they're willing to learn.
We're looking for a thick-skinned creative who can take constructive criticism from teammates, working together to create an end product that is better than what any individual team member could create on their own. You'll report to the Director of Web Development and work closely with the Director of Digital Strategy and other designers. We strive to practice data-informed design that that puts the user first without sacrificing beauty, iterating as we observe how users interact with web pages.

Design and build web pages that help people fall in love and stay in love with George Fox University.
Follow industry best practices and George Fox brand guidelines to ensure the university's web properties are user-friendly, accessible, and on-brand.
Create an excellent experience for users on both mobile and desktop devices.
Keep up with, and implement, new technologies and design trends to keep the website at the forefront of web design.
Design assets to promote the university through other digital channels, such as social media, email, and online advertising.
Conduct necessary duties to the website in the director's absence (such as granting permissions, or approving web pages).
An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement and being in living agreement with same.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field preferred.
Knowledge of photo editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop.
Ability to take initiative and propose new technologies to use.
