Reporting to the Executive Director of Gift Planning, the Director of Development, Gift Planning (DOD-GP) is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and successfully closing major and principal level gifts.
The DOD-OGP will collaborate closely with colleagues in Health Sciences and University Development to provide subject matter expertise and strategic input, including financial, tax and estate planning analysis, to achieve fully integrated gift structures and proposals.
Must have access to reliable transportation.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Demonstrated success at raising philanthropic support by developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation plans for planned gifts over $100,000.
Expert working knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
Extensive experience in institutional fundraising.
Expert knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
Expert organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills. Expert project / program management skills, including skills in setting and meeting program / project goals and objectives within budget and time constraints.
Experience providing meaningful giving proposals in collaboration with development colleagues. Commitment to quality service and group process with proven aptitude for working as part of a team.
Thorough understanding of donor/prospect research and the ability to extract utilize pertinent information in a timely fashion.
Demonstrated strong organizational, collaborative and leadership skills with the ability to lead by example and encourage teamwork.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff, donors, prospects, volunteers, and university leadership. Proven ability to work with utmost confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, professionalism and discretion.
