Director, Strategic Program Lead East Region Stars (East Coast or Minneapolis)

Challenge yourself, your peers and our industry by shaping what health care looks like and doing your life's best work.(sm) The Strategic Program Lead, East Region Stars has responsibility for overall execution and program management of the regional Stars strategies. This individual will develop strategies and programs to achieve 4+ stars covering more than 80% of East Region membership, collaborating closely with local healthplan CEOs and Executive Directors, as well as national partners across Optum and UnitedHealthcare. Position provides regional prioritization, direction, goals, analytics, reporting, performance and financial management, and drives execution inclusive of removing barriers and responding to feedback from the business. This individual must maintain close relationships with the local markets, and serves as their matrix leader for overall Star program strategy and direction. This position will report to the East Region Vice President of Strategy and Planning. Primary Responsibilities:Lead development and execution of market level strategies that will achieve 4-STAR contract rating in each marketIdentify improvement opportunities at the contract level, facilitate cross functional problem-solving efforts to understand, document, and design improvements, and partner with CEOs and EDs to determine effective solutions; develop charters / business cases and spearhead the approval process as neededIn partnership with the Healthplan CEOs and Executive Directors, support execution of their strategic plans through an effective project management disciplineTrack, analyze and report on overall contract STARS ratings prediction, identifying specific measure categories with negative trendsPresent findings to market leadership with recommendations for improvementProvide accurate, timely, actionable intelligence to support effective development and implementation of all STARS effortsResearch and support resolution of operational, member and provider issues and service failuresEnsure organizational alignment to achieve market goalsActively participate in Weekly STARS Work Group Meetings; communicate relevant information back to the local teamsActively participate in weekly Pharmacy, Member Engagement and CAHPS / Member Experience meetings; communicate relevant information back to the local teamsHost / lead weekly forums with local Star Leads across East Region to ensure strategy alignment, accurate prioritization and as the regular communication forum for sharing all national program updates and needs
Required Qualifications:Minimum of three years of experience working with CMS Star Ratings programMinimum of three years of experience developing, planning and managing initiatives across matrix organizationsUndergraduate degreeStrong analytical and critical thinking competencyExpert business, financial and operational acumenAbility to drive execution and lead across a matrix organizationStrong ability to solve complex process problems spanning multiple functional areas and business units; managing through direct and indirect reporting relationshipsWorking knowledge of the Medicare market, products and competitorsProficient working with large data sets and making data-driven analytical decisionsAbility to communicate complex issues simply and concisely; excellent verbal and written communication skills; advanced presentation skills; ability to adapt style, approach and level of detail according to the audienceMicrosoft Office specialist with exceptional analytical and data representation expertise (intermediate Excel and PowerPoint)Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple prioritiesShould possess executive presence, inclusive of oral and written communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Microsoft Access experience Structure and data sources experience Careers at UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement.The Boomer generation is the fastest growing market segment in health care.
