College of Science & Mathematics/School of Health Professions Assistant Dean

The College of Science & Mathematics and School of Health Professions (CSM/SHP) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Dean, to begin on June 4, 2018. The position is a full-time, 12-month managerial position.
Major tasks of the Assistant Dean will include coordinating and overseeing for CSM/SHP: (a) student academic issues, (b) course scheduling and registration, (c) undergraduate student support programs (LAs, peer mentors, tutoring), (d) and CSM/SHP learning outcomes assessment efforts.
Specific duties of the position include the following:
Coordinating course scheduling and resolving issues regarding student registration, including significant interaction with department chairs, faculty, other assistant deans, and academic schools
Advising faculty and students regarding university policies related to student concerns (e.g., grade disputes, complaints) and overseeing the academic probation and dismissal process for the college/school
Facilitating student-focused events and meetings (e.g., Open Houses, New Student Orientations, Awards Ceremonies, Commencement)
Serving as the college’s liaison to offices such as the University Advising Center, Academic Success Center, Office of the University Registrar, Admissions, Office of Winter & Summer Sessions, International Center, Dean of Students/Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, etc.
Coordinating Departments’ efforts in implementing Learning Assistant, Peer Mentoring, Tutoring, and PRESCO programs, for example.
Ensuring Departments’ progress regarding learning outcomes assessment processes and reports
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Applicants should have a doctoral or master’s degree, from an accredited college or university, in one of the disciplines within the College of Science & Mathematics or School of Health Professions. Doctoral degree is preferred.
At least three years of experience related to duties outlined above is desired, including significant experience working directly with undergraduate students and college/university faculty.
