Kaleida Health supports the residency training programs for the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and trains more than 700 residents each year.
Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital (MFS) is a 265-bed hospital located in Williamsville, NY, that provides non-tertiary hospital services including gynecology/obstetrics, dialysis, orthopedic surgery, general and ambulatory surgery (including robotics), and diagnostic nuclear medicine. This facility expanded in 2015 to include a new ten-bed Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) connected with Oishei Children’s Hospital, the regional referral center for critically ill newborns. The scope of Women’s Services at MFS includes Labor and Delivery care provided in nine Birthing Rooms with an accompanying three-suite OR, a 20 bed Mother Baby Unit with a respite nursery, NICU, the prenatal testing center, and childbirth education. Approximately 2,600 babies are delivered at MFS every year. Direct reports to this position include three Managers and a little over 150 FTE.
Kaleida Health is seeking a dynamic, innovative and experienced transformational nursing leader to direct all aspects of Women’s Services at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital (MFS). The Women’s Services Director will provide nursing leadership for obstetrical and neonatal care. The ideal candidate will bring experience working in a labor environment and have demonstrated success managing daily women’s services operations leading a highly skilled and patient focused team. The incumbent will be a catalyst in engaging staff in the excitement and challenge of leading “best in class” care to patients, families and the Western New York Community.
A registered nurse eligible for licensure in the State of NY with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree, one of which must be in Nursing.
Ten (10) years nursing experience in progressively responsible leadership roles and a minimum of five (5) years of nursing leadership experience in complex, high risk women’s service.
Experience as a highly visible and accessible leader, comfortable in the clinical setting with the ability to engage and empower others.
Contemporary leadership expertise, knowledge of emerging models of nursing care, and experience with initiatives for improving nursing practice, safety, quality and patient satisfaction/outcomes.
Experience in a union environment is required.
Demonstrated ability to establish strong collaborative relationships with physician leaders and with leaders of other disciplines is also required.
The incumbent will be a seasoned, confident nurse leader with strong managerial competencies and demonstrated ability to develop effective nursing leaders, to mentor and coach others, and to delegate appropriately to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
