The Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory, a world-leading fusion energy research center under contract with the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE), invites applications for a Systems Engineer. This position will apply Systems Engineering principles to ensure coordinated development and verification of requirements and interfaces in support PPPL projects.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine high-level requirements for the project.
Author key high-level requirements and to develop an integrated system design.
Work with the subsystem Responsible Engineers to create a flow-down of requirements.
Work with subsystem Responsible Engineers to create a flow-up of subsystem verification.
Work with project scientists and engineers to develop system-level validation plans and procedures.
Utilize Systems Engineering tools for requirements and interface identification, verification, and validation tracking.
Represent Systems Engineering considerations throughout the design process, including cost, value engineering, safety, reliability, maintainability , testability, human systems integration, survivability, life cycle performance, and regulatory compliance.
Execute a Risk Process that collects risks, estimates probability of occurrence, estimates significance of impact, ranks risks, develops plans and timelines to reduce risks, and oversee the execution of those plans.
Represent Systems Engineering project activities at major design reviews.
Evaluate subsystem designs with respect to performance requirements.
Review and approve test procedures and test results with regard to performance verification and validation
Develop tools for collecting and analyzing operational failure/downtime data to guide maintenance, replacement, and modernization activities.
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.
A minimum of 5 years experience in Systems Engineering on a complex scientific project/facility.
INCOSE CSEP preferred.
