The Research Assistant is responsible for supporting mouse model generation via embryo production, assistant with surgery, post-operative care, sampling, genotyping and breeding. This position also performs cell culture duties related to gene targeting in ES cells and procedures required for cryo-preservation and recovery of mouse embryo and sperm. Additional responsibilities include mouse colony management, lab ordering, and record-keeping both on paper and using Filemaker databases. Frequent weekend work required.
BA/BS degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2-5 years of related experience preferred, including ES cell culture, animal husbandry and basic molecular biology techniques. LAT certification preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent organizational skills required.
