Full Time 40 hours Grade 007 Neurosurgery Clinic Schedule 8 AM-4:30 PM Responsibilities Position Summary: In addition to outpatient access associate duties, coordinates functions associated with patient information processing for ambulatory care visits, in addition to our Resident Clinic and acts as a resource to staff performing those functions. Monitors and assures that all functions are completed in an accurate, efficient, and friendly manner. Is proficient at use of Flowcast and eRecord systems and is a resource to new staff. Typical Duties: Performs duties of Outpatient Access Associate as required by departmental needs. Achieves and maintains proficiency in daily tasks and demonstrates excellent customer service. Performance analysis: Coordinates daily efforts to edit and correct registration errors, ensures accuracy of patient schedules, and identifies ways to reduce follow-up, repetitive or corrective work. Training: Provides training to other clerical staff on all aspects of department-specific work, including orientation to registration and customer service. Acts as information resource for all departmental staff in regards to registration and check-in activities. Attends educational programs for department at direction of supervisor and teaches other staff. Appointment scheduling: Maintains and updates appointment scheduling resources for Ambulatory Faculty Practice and Resident Clinic, reports to supervisor with suggestions for increasing efficiency, collects patient copayments and maintains assigned petty cash, coordinates multiple schedules and monitors for changes in availability and overbooking, obtains insurance authorizations, coordinates and schedules procedures and tests. Customer interaction: Responsible for answering multiple phone lines, accurately and efficiently starting patient communication with providers via telephone and or prescription refill encounters with in eRecord. Assesses urgency of patient requests and determines the appropriate routing for messages. Serves as a front- line problem solver by handling complaints and directing them through appropriate channels. Other duties: providers support for departmental activities including, but not limited to, monitoring inventory of supplies, supply ordering and maintenance of clinic services (escorting patients, witnessing consent signatures, etc.). May assist with clinical tasks related to escorting patients to rooms and opening the encounter in eRecord. Qualifications High School diploma and 2.5 years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical terminology experience preferred. Must be able to accurately type a minimum of 40 WPM and demonstrate accuracy when entering information into database. Must exhibit superior customer service skills and demonstrate URMC ICARE values to patients, families and staff
