Under the direction of the Principal Investigators and Research Program Managers, the incumbent will assist in the coordination of activities that support the overall work of and a specific research study at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity. The Center works to promote equity in health for at-risk populations through advancing scientific knowledge, promoting sustainable changes in practice and policy, partnering with communities, raising public awareness of health inequities, and training scholars. The research study is a pragmatic cluster randomized trial in which we will compare the effectiveness of clinic-based standard of care plus audit, feedback and education to an intervention that uses a collaborative care team, a community health worker and specialist consultation to deliver contextualized, appropriately stepped care (CC/Stepped Care) for reducing disparities and improving patient-centered outcomes among patients with hypertension. Thirty primary care clinics, including Federally Qualified Health Centers, across Maryland will recruit 63 patients each (total=1,890). The team will use patient and broad stakeholder engagement and apply principles of community-based participatory research to refine and adapt intervention protocols and materials to the needs of participating organizations, clinic sites, and populations. The goal of the study is to improve care for hypertension and reduce racial disparities related to health outcomes. The incumbent will work with adult community members, faculty, staff, and students from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health. He or she will also work with our clinical partners and interact with providers, MAs, other clinical staff, and adult (21 and older) research participants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains knowledge of the study protocol
Assists in the daily operations of the recruitment and telephone interview team under the direction of the Research Program Manager
Assists in the development of toolkits, flyers, letters and other materials for dissemination of research materials
Assists in the development of tables and figures for reports and manuscripts
May perform literature reviews
Assists in the coordination and participates in study meetings, including the preparation of agendas and taking of detailed meeting minutes
May assists with Center communication and dissemination efforts, including website and newsletter maintenance and development
Assists in the maintenance of project databases
Assists with community engagement activities, including engagement with Community Advisory Board and participating health systems
Other duties as assigned.

Preferred: Prior research or project implementation experience. Experience working in clinical settings and/or with providers and clinical staff. Experience in database operations and/or experience in coordination of medical or laboratory research.

Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, be able to work independently and as part of a team, initiative, strong leadership skills, and an ability to work with a team of researchers and with diverse subject populations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of PC operations and software applications such as MS Windows, Excel, Word, and Access required. Ability to learn new database and software applications is required. Ability to follow multiple, detailed directions of various protocols. Knowledge of medical terminology highly desired. Must have excellent time management skills.
