Functions as the key service contact for job-seeker customers. Provides eligibility determination, orientation and assessment. Orients, interviews, and counsels customers. Recommends most appropriate service strategy for each customer. Provides career counseling and prepares, screens and identifies candidates for open job opportunities. Tracks and analyzes data on an individual, caseload and agency wide basis. Position primarily located in Robbins but must be willing to travel to home office in Arlington Heights.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as primary contact for all customers accessing the Center in Robbins community.
Refer customers to services offered through partner agencies or directing them to the many self-directed resources.
Manage an active caseload of participants engaged in varied employment activities at various stages
Screens program candidates to determine suitability for program.
Conducts and documents eligibility determination.
Conducts initial interviews to provide pre-screening and suitability programs.
Provide career information and guide candidates through resources to make informed career choices.
Assess the employment, training and education needs of individual participants in preparation for the design of a career development plan.
Develop employment plan with each enrolled customer to identify realistic short- and/or long-term goal(s) and develop a strategy to attain them.
Implements client management system to successfully route many participants through various stages, resulting in the completion of employment plan goals. Track progress on achievement of goals and adjust as needed.
Ensures timely progression through services, program exit, and management of caseload capacity.
As appropriate, provide guidance and enrollment into appropriate training programs including Individual Training Accounts (ITAs) and On-the-Job Training (OJT).
Work closely with the BCS Team on the planning and implementation of cohort industry specific programming that includes Job Readiness boot camps and internships off site;
Evaluate participants’ on-the-job performance either through observation or with the work site employer
Develops applicant records and maintains applicants’ files with up-to-date information. Maintain records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Arranges for support services as necessary.
Conducts orientation sessions to explain workforce system resources and other community services.
Implements job placement plans and actively works with Business Service Team in job placement activities. Record and track employment information.
Provide post-employment follow up to help ensure retention.
Develop understanding of organizational performance measures. Over time, assist in the tracking and reporting of agency wide goals. Gather and analyze data necessary to develop reports.
Researches and coordinates use of outside resources to benefit individual participants.
Identifies new community contacts and ideas for publicizing the program.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree. Three years of related experience in education, counseling, social services, or related field a plus. WIA/WIOA experience and knowledge a plus.
Strong computer skills required. Microsoft Excel proficiency a must.
Must be willing to travel between main office in Arlington Heights and satellite location in Robbins
Ability to quickly gather, organize, and analyze information and produce reports.
Excellent communication and counseling skills.
Overall knowledge of grant regulations and the importance of compliance, or ability to learn quickly.
Candidate screening and job placement experience desirable.
Team orientation with respect for others, as well as ability to work independently when necessary.
Ability to work well with individuals of various social and economic backgrounds.
