Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, the Dean is the chief administrative officer of the School of Graduate Studies and has general supervisory responsibilities over all graduate work. The Dean oversees a comprehensive graduate school with 12 staff members who are responsible for recruitment, admissions, maintaining student records, certification of graduation, yearly allocation of over 3 million dollars of financial support, graduate student development, and approval of graduate faculty credentials. The Dean will work collaboratively with graduate faculty members, fellow deans, and the Faculty Senate in the development and approval of new graduate programs and curricular changes. Furthermore the Dean will partner with Enrollment Management, Institutional Research, and Distance Education in developing enrollment targets for the institution. The Dean must be familiar with national trends in graduate education and possess vision to propose responses to the trends in order to remain competitive with our peer institutions.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate innovative approaches to graduate level funding and administration, including fundraising, multidisciplinary studies, enrollment management, online and distance education, and demonstrate an appreciation of challenges and opportunities in graduate education at a Comprehensive university.
