Job Posting: Summary of Essential Job Duties: The Sr. Human Resources Consultant will serve as a senior-level strategic HR Business Partner (HRBP) for the Cedars-Sinai Medical Network (MN). The HRBP will serve as a consultant to management on Human Resources related issues including contracting, on-boarding, employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, and other HR related issues. The HRBP will proactively assess and anticipate HR-related needs and opportunities for process improvement. The HRBP develops strategic partnerships with business units and management to deliver value added service that reflects the business objectives, vision, mission and goals of the organization. In addition, the HRBP will provide training to staff, managers, senior level department administrators and personnel on an as needed basis. General HR Support - Serve as a consultant to management and staff, providing customized and practical HR solutions to challenges across a range of HR functions. Develops partnerships across the HR functions and Centers of Excellence to deliver value, effective and efficient service to department management and employees that reflect the Health System goals and objectives. This includes, but is not limited to, sharing information with Recruitment, Compliance and partnering to identify, develop and implement creative, comprehensive and integrated HR strategies that support the short and long term objectives of the client's business. Assess compliance risks and assist departments in maintaining compliance with Health System, MN, as well as State and Federal employment regulations. Ensures the consistent application of HR policies, processes and systems within the groups we support along with the Health System at large. Develops and leads implementation plans and analyze business information to process various ongoing HR actions as it relates to employee status changes. Evaluates potential issues or service needs and functions in a strategic manner regarding response. Provides expertise and support to junior level HR Business Partners and other HR staff concerning complex HR matters. Compensation and Benefits - Assist with maintenance of the staff and management Compensation Plan. Participate in the annual performance appraisal and compensation review processes for staff, manager, and senior level department administrator. Perform equity, market and promotional reviews and make recommendations, as necessary. Provides management consultation and leads services with regards to implementation of alternative work schedules. Provides departments 'fair market value' compensation assessments for independent contractor agreements. Provides general and executive benefits consultation regarding explanation of benefits, eligibility, status and/or change of status, resolving discrepancies and clarifying plan options. Offers strategic consultation to MN department directors and managers regarding compensation, promotions and other compensation matters in order to promote equity, consistency in pay practices and adherence with the Health System compensation philosophy. Collaborates with Payroll and Total Rewards Compensation to assure consistency in handling of other compensation, certification pay, new job titles/classifications and pay discrepancies. Employee Relations - Manages employee relations issues including, but not limited to, conducting investigations, interpreting Health System, MN policies and procedures for management and staff, partnering with management on disciplinary actions, coaching/counseling and conflict resolution. Coordinates and conducts routine and complex employee investigations as well as, participate in mediation, arbitration and or litigation processes as required. Provides training and/or consultation regarding the Management Intervention Guidelines process. Manages and facilitates other employee relations matters including alternative work week schedule, terminations, exit process
Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required. License/Certification/Registration Requirements: Senior Professional in Human Resources, Professional in Human Resources or other HR specialty certification preferred. Experience: Requires minimum of 7 years HR experience (with demonstrated experience in multiple HR disciplines included but not limited to: performance management, compensation, benefits, organization development, training and recruitment). Prefers 3-5 years' experience in healthcare industry or other service industry. Experience working successfully within a matrix structured organization. Any similar combination of education and experience, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties required for the position. Possess considerable knowledge and or familiarity of employment laws, principles and practices of human resources, creative problem solving ability, effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to manage an unpredictable and voluminous workload while providing quality service and meeting deadlines through organization, interpersonal skills, and prioritization of activities. Must possess analytical abilities to identify and review problem situations, make independent decisions and/or recommend solutions. Must be computer savvy and comfortable with learning new HRIS technology and reporting systems. Experience with standard office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.). Working knowledge of HR information systems such as Oracle strongly preferred. Ability to use data and HR analytics to assist assigned business units with various initiatives. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at varying levels both verbally and in writing. Experience presenting in front of large groups. Requires ability to lead through influence. Be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels. Ability to take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation. Ability to understand and manage complex reporting relationships with sensitivity to organizational and cultural nuances. Physical Demands: Able to lift twenty-five (25) pounds.
