At Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), we're not only changing the way we treat cancer, but also the way the world thinks about it. By working together and pushing forward with innovation and discovery, we're driving excellence and improving outcomes.
For the 27th year, MSK has been named a top hospital for cancer by U.S. News & World Report. We are proud to be on Becker's Healthcare list as one of the 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare in 2016, as well as Glassdoor's annual Employees' Choice Awards 2017. We're treating cancer, one patient at a time. Join us and make a difference every day.
As a Proteomics Specialist you will develop and implement mass spectrometry based methods to characterize and quantitate proteins from complex biochemical mixtures such as cell lysates and human plasma. In addition, this person will operate and maintain a high-resolution tandem mass spectrometer and the requisite nano-scale liquid chromatography systems.
Develop and implement LC-MS/MS methodologies to support MSKCC research efforts.
Successfully complete job duties specific responsibilities include the biochemical isolation of proteins from unique matrices such as stable isotope labeled cells and tissues and manipulation of those proteins so that they are now compatible with LC-MS analysis.
Be responsible for designing mass spectrometry experiments to sequence, characterize post translational modification, and to quantitate protein analytes including selected reaction monitoring (SRM) LC-MS/MS methods tuned for unique proteins of interest.
Support emerging technology and develop new mythologies for existing systems.
Operate a high-resolution tandem mass spectrometer at 5 parts per million mass accuracy and maintain the requisite nano-scale liquid chromatography systems.
Run QA/QCs, tuning, calibration of mass spectrometer, trouble shooting technical issues, routine maintenance, data analysis and report generation.
