Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
The Space Project Manager supports Facilities Management goal of providing consistent, cost effective, efficient, reliable, and sustainable geospatial systems in support of the University's mission. The incumbent provides geospatial analysis, drafting, digitizing and database maintenance to fill customer requests for geospatial solutions. The Space Project Manager identifies and analyzes data and trends to determine areas of opportunity for space utilization and space performance improvement, operational efficiency and inventory improvements. The Space Project Manager works closely with the Geospatial Engineering Services Manager to create new and supplemental reporting models and aids in the development of tools to support strategic space planning. This position may supervise others on cross-functional teams and projects in support of integrated geospatial solutions.

Required Minimum Level of Education: *Degree Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: Bachelor's Degree with: 1. Significant coursework in geography, planning, architecture, environmental sciences, computer science, engineering, computer aided drafting and design, or related fields. 2. Formal training in AutoCAD, and relational databases.
Preferred Specific Degree/Training: Training in Autodesk Revit or other Building Information Modeling tools.
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Required Specific Experience: 1. At least two years drafting with AutoCAD. 2. At least two years working with databases to develop or maintain information. 3. At least two years performing complex data analysis with tools such as Microsoft Access, Excel, or SQL database language. 4. At least five years of progressive leadership responsibilities 5. At least two years of project management experience 6. At least two years of experience with information system administration
Preferred Specific Experience: Experience integrating space information with other enterprise information systems, such as AutoCAD ArcGIS Revit Archibus, FAMIS, AssetWorks AiM or other space inventory systems.
Preferred License or Certification: PMP, GISP
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Demonstrated ability to apply strategic thinking and problem solving to aid in space planning and management decisions. 2. Specialty knowledge in analyzing, developing, integrating, and managing a variety of large-scale data sets. 3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others to assess needs and compile system requirements. 4. Ability to accurately interpret maps, plats, and construction plans. 5. Knowledge of CAD & GIS standards and principles. 6. Knowledge of project management principles and practices. 7. Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking and sound judgment. 8. Demonstrated self-organization and time management skills. 9. Excellent written and oral communication skills. 10. Ability to lead cross functional project teams
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management and work order systems. 2. Knowledge of the Postsecondary Education Facilities Inventory and Classification Manual (FICM) standards for space inventory coding.
