This position provides pedagogical, design, and technical support for the School of Social Work in the form of strategic planning, faculty development, and user training in digital-enhanced active learning within digital-rich learning environments. The position has specific faculty development and technical support responsibilities for the School of Social Work. The position also contributes substantial vision and leadership in the area of learning space design and support, with a strong focus on pedagogical approaches, course design and development and the assessment of student learning outcomes.
Through ongoing professional development seminars and individual consultation, assist academic programs and faculty members with course design and development, including the development of consistent templates using different available formats such as Blackboard
Assess teaching supports and needs for the School of Social Work. Provide faculty support and development via workshops that cover topics on inclusive teaching; course design; implementation of digital technology in face-to-face, blended, and online learning environments; and other topics that support best practices in teaching.
Assist with the continued development of digital-based student learning outcome assessment protocols based on professional social work practice competencies.
Supports instructors with front-line learning spaces technical assistance in the use of digital-based pedagogical approaches.
Oversees technical support to School of Social Work multimedia classrooms, collaboration rooms, meeting rooms, seminar rooms, experimental learning spaces, and other presentation systems. Troubleshoots connectivity problems and oversees configuration and setup equipment.
Provides technical support and guidance in the generation of video content for access via internet, including live capture of classroom instruction and other events via Echo360 devices and software.
Advises faculty in the best methods for creating, formatting, and/or converting video for on demand delivery via university-endorsed platforms
Works closely with various units within technology support services at the university to identify and resolve technology and technology-related support issues for the School of Social Work. Support of Instructor Content Creation and Distribution.
Maintains high strategic vision and corresponding skill level in current multimedia technologies and digital-enriched learning space design.
Demonstrates excellent customer service and interactive skills

Stays abreast of research and developments in the field of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and educational teaching research and engages faculty in research in this field.
An advanced degree, or training and work experience that equates to an advanced degree, is required.
Experience in creating and implementing creative, effective faculty and student development in digital-enhanced active learning, especially within digital-rich learning spaces.
Experience with learning space research, design and the support with a focus on innovative, digital-enhanced active learning and faculty development to support innovative teaching and learning, especially digital-enhanced active learning.
Demonstrated successful experience with multimedia user support and training, as well as the creation and management of online instructional content. Extensive knowledge of video conferencing, capture, streaming, and collaborative tools.
Experience in multimedia systems integration including design, and maintenance.
Basic understanding of data networks.
Advanced knowledge of media related software such as Microsoft Office, Google collaboration tools, project management software, videoconferencing, and audio-video capture.
Excellent customer support and interpersonal skills, demonstrating an ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders to achieve a successful outcome. Self-motivated.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing with both technical and non-technical persons.
Good multitasking and organizational skills demonstrated by simultaneously keeping many projects, often with short timelines, on schedule.
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
A master's degree in learning technologies or a related field, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
Basic knowledge and use of Web 2.0 tools into face-to-face, hybrid, and online classroom environments.
Experience in design, integration, maintenance and support of innovative digital-enhanced learning spaces.
Experience in the design and development of digital-enhanced course and curriculum design, especially in a collaborative context.-
