The Communications & Project Specialist directly supports the goal of creating a central, visible, and accessible web-based hub as part of the UC system-wide Healthy Campus Network initiative, which aims “to make UC the healthiest place to work, learn, and live.” Successful candidates should have previous experience working at UC Berkeley.
University Health Services at the Tang Center provides comprehensive medical, mental health, insurance and health promotion services to all Berkeley students, and a variety of health programs for faculty and staff. • Assist with development of and execute on the project plan for the Health Campus Network’s wellness website project, including successfully managing associated communication plan, launch activities and post-launch recommendations. • Works independently to create the wellness website via campus Open Berkeley Drupal platform, following all requirements and developments to ensure readability, accessibility, and compliance. • Meets and consults with a variety of team members and campus stakeholders to get input, share updates, and coordinate cross-linkages and project needs under the direction of the Project Manager. • Create, maintain and implement ongoing communications and engagement plan in support of the project. • Provide graphic design expertise and design aesthetic vision associated with the project. Coordinates administrative and technical needs in support of communication duties.•Previous experience working with or at UC Berkeley required. •Political acumen and experience navigating complex, sensitive project with multiple campus stakeholders. •Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, editorial style, and punctuation, including skill to write in a clear and lively style. •Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work. •Thorough knowledge of content management systems and/or relevant web applications used for web site production, and campus-specific computer application programs. Thorough skills to create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites that provide web content consistent with the campus message and in keeping with management directives and client objectives. •Thorough understanding of institutional processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for web communications. •Thorough technical skills in computer applications for web production, image handling, publishing and design, , presentation preparation, and/or other state-of-the-art web communication capabilities. •Strong interpersonal communication skills in individual and group settings •Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems. •Ability to prioritize work requests, and be flexible with rapidly changing working priorities. •Ability to manage project tasks and take initiative with minimal supervision.
Education/Training: •Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training •Must have previous Drupal experience, and hands-on experience creating a complex website. •Must have graphic design experience associated with general communications projects. The Communications & Project Specialist is a 100% FTE, 8-Month Contract appointment. Anticipated end date is 09/30/2018.
