Reporting to the Vice President of Membership and Marketing, the Director of Communications will set and guide the strategy for all communications, marketing, public relations messages, and collateral to consistently articulate ITS America’s mission. The Director of Communications will ensure that ITS America is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information for intelligent transportation within the industry, on Capitol Hill, and throughout federal, state, and local agencies.
Develop, implement, and evaluate the communications plan across all audiences in collaboration with the ITS America team and constituents.
Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, press releases and website.
As a member of the marketing team, be responsible for the creation of campaigns to support the association’s message across all media platforms.
Work collaboratively with the Social Media manager to market all association events and activities.
Work closely with the entire staff as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives including advocacy work, events and technical programs.
Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities.
Provide editorial oversight and copy editing for all newsletters and correspondence.
Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly.
Manage all media contacts and press inquiries.

Safe use of equipment, as well as safe practices while on ITS America or Customer property is essential.

Bachelor’s degree required, plus 5+ years of communications and marketing experience.
Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.
Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups.
