Oregon State University-Cascades, in Bend, Oregon, in partnership with the College of Science at Oregon State University-Corvallis, invites applications for a full-time, (1.0 FTE), 9-month, fixed term Instructor rank faculty position in physics. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean. The successful candidate will have the important role of bringing innovative teaching practices to the new Physics program at Cascades.
The person in this position is assigned to work at Oregon State University-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon. The ideal candidate performs teaching, maintains currency, and performs service.
About OSU-Cascades: Oregon State University's campus in Bend, Oregon features outstanding faculty in degree programs that reflect Central Oregon's vibrant economy and abundant natural resources. OSU-Cascades offers sixteen undergraduate majors, 30 minors and options, and three graduate programs. Examples of undergraduate majors include biology, business, computer science, energy systems engineering, kinesiology, hospitality management, and tourism and outdoor leadership. The branch campus expanded to a four-year university in fall 2015.
OSU-Cascades offers upper division and graduate courses and is the only branch campus in the state. Started in the fall of 2001, it now enrolls more than 1100 students in a range of bachelor's and master's degree programs.
The anticipated start date of this position is 9/16/18.
Typically requires Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to the field of teaching/instructional tasks.
- Master's degree in Physics or related fields (for example, Electrical Engineering, Astrophysics, Geophysics, Applied Mathematics) by the start of the appointment.
- Experience with or demonstrated potential for teaching Physics at the college or university level. This can include service as a Teaching Assistant and/or formal training in pedagogy at the college/university level.
- A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion.
