Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The IT Shared Resources Manager will provide management and technical direction of the IT Shared Resources group. This group consists of 5 technical experts in various IT disciplines and includes directing the daily management of all virtualization, storage, backup, cloud, and Data Center services.
Responsible for the daily operation and management of a wide variety of tasks associated with managing Storage, Virtualization, and Data Center at an Enterprise level.This position is the technical expert in all aspects of the campus virtualization infrastructure, storage network, backup and recovery, and on-premise data center infrastructure.
Responsible for developing a team of Systems Analysts and Specialists whose responsibility is to ensure the ongoing resiliency and operational integrity of the various infrastructure elements associated with the Shared Service architectures.
Serve as the technical expert in enterprise cloud architecture and implementation.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues associated with enterprise service delivery of virtual machines and operating systems, the integration of both physical and virtual machines with our enterprise storage network, and integration of on-premise computing with emerging cloud services.
Conceptualize, design, and integrate multiple large-scale computing systems across functional boundaries within the IT enterprise.
Assess, recruit and develop the skills growth of the Shared Resources team. This includes developing work plan goals, resolving conflicts, and assessing and developing performance reviews. The Shared Resources Manager is responsible for mentoring and motivating a diverse team to provide a level of technical knowledge and customer service that in inspires trust from the campus community.
Research and evaluate Enterprise scale Virtualization, Storage/Backup, and Cloud technologies. The manager must weigh the impact of new technologies on the campus business processes and make recommendations based on the value of the technology to the business process compared to any negative impact it may bring to the campus. The manager is responsible for ensuring the implementation and testing to guarantee our enterprise backup strategy is reliable and continues to meet the objectives of the state and internal auditors and departmental business continuity processes.
Additional preferred qualifications include:
4-year degree in a relevant field of study
4 years of progressive personnel management experience
Experience with using a Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS); or experience in data center management.
