The School of Dentistry has an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Systems Specialist.
This is a full-time, permanent position in the Information Technology department of the School of Dentistry. The Clinical Systems Specialist's role is to manage and maintain the School's axiUm EHR and related clinical systems. They will also consult with clinical leadership and key end-users to manage and evolve the role of core clinical systems within the school and make modifications to axiUm to support business process improvement within the School. This is achieved by leading the planning, design, implementation and prioritization of clinical information systems at the school. This role will work in close collaboration with the Office of Clinical Services, department administrators, the broader IT team and key vendors.
The Clinical Systems Specialist will be the lead person driving end-user adoption and success with the school's clinical systems. The person will also be responsible for documenting and overseeing all policies and procedures relating to the evolution, operations and support of the School's clinical computing environment. Ideally the person will also have some expertise in, or can quickly ramp up to, the maintenance of the scripts and reporting services on the platforms that underpin the clinical systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
axiUm system configuraton and enhancement implementation.
End-user and clinical leadership consultation to include feedback capture and change management.
Policy development and implementation.
Collaboration on system level risk assessments and security planning.
On-going auditing best practices.
Oracle and Crystal reports scripting.
End-user training: in-person and through the creation of training videos and online documentation.
Communicating system-level policies to end-users.
Vendor management and escalations.
Project management and support responsibilities.
Triage and manage tier 2 clinical I.T. incidents and problems effectively.
Business continuity planning.
Manage change management and enhancement process.
Create SQL queries for Oracle and MS SQL based database back-ends.
Create and maintain complex application triggers.
Create and maintain custom forms within axiUm to capture and store information within patient records.
Test all axiUm modules and related application integrations (Patient Access, MiPACS, Billing, 835 remittance, etc.) when preparing for major and minor upgrades / QA testing.
Manage and maintain axiUm test environment.
Highest level escalation point / subject matter expert for axiUm related incidents and knowledge.
Collaborate closely with the Systems Administrator regarding performance and any changes or enhancements to axiUm's back-end architecture.
Supporting business analyst with report generation and maintenance.
Audit activities on servers containing PHI.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or related analytical field.
Experience (2+ years) working in an academic computing or clinical environment with a range of software platforms.
Experience (2+ years) working with stakeholders to improve processes.
Experience (2+ years) participating in or leading IT or clinical projects.
Experience (2+ years) of training or mentoring others in the use of software.
Excellent analytical problem solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server including the creation of queries, views, and scripts.
Experience with creating reports with Crystal Reports and/or Tableau.
Computing experience within a dental or health care clinical environment and ability to handle confidential information, PHI, and PII responsibly and within compliance guidelines (HIPAA, FERPA, etc).
Experience with Electronic Health/Medical Record systems (axiUm preferred).
Experience with dental/medical PACS and 3D imaging systems (e.g. MiPACS, Dolphin, iDixel, Kodak Carestream, iCat etc.).
