Marketing and Event Planning (marketing, communication and logistics)
Lead, plan, execute and manage day-to-day operations of the Center's three major annual events: (a) UW Impact Awards, (b) National ASCEND 2020 Conference, and the (c) induction ceremony for the National Minority Business Hall of Fame and Museum. This work will include developing and producing promotional materials, securing corporate and small business financial support, representing the center to business owners and corporate leaders, securing national speakers, and negotiating contracts and managing work of consultants and vendors, and managing all bookkeeping (i.e. invoicing, billing, budgets, etc) as related to these events. Additionally this position works with Center staff and Advisory Boards to plan, execute and manage events to market the Center's program in Eastern Washington that also secure financial support for the Center's programs
Plan and execute student and small business programs with primary responsibility for creating and producing electronic and printed promotional materials; and insuring participation in the center's programs by business leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, and corporate sponsors. This includes having day-to-day decision-making authority related to all aspects of these projects.
Manage the Center's Advisory Board meetings in Seattle, Yakima, and the Tri-Cities (5 Advisory Boards in total) to insure appropriate input in establishing the center's goals, measuring the center's impact, and securing financial and volunteer support for the center's programs. This includes audience buidling and disseminating appropriate information.
Manage and administer donor recognition events
Develop the Center's electronic communication including coordination with the Foster School's Marketing-Communications team in creation and dissemination of blogs, social media messages, and website content updates
Represent the Center to external audiences including small business owners who register for the Center's educational programs in cities across Washington.
Professional Education Programs and Challenge Management
Lead, plan, execute and manage day-to-day operations of the Center's Tribal Gaming and Hospitality Management Program: (a) recruiting and registering audience participants, (b) arranging field classrooms and other accomodations, and (c) partnering and coordinating with UW American Indian Studies and Native American Tribes across Washington.
Lead, plan, execute and manage day-to-day operations of the Center's Business Certificate Program in the Tri-Cities: (a) recruiting and registering audience participants, (b) arranging field classrooms and other accomodations, and (c) partnering with corporate and commjunity leaders in the Tri-Cities.
Lead, plan, execute and manage day-to-day operations of the Center's Consulting Challenge: (a) recruiting and registering audience participants, (b) securing business clients and developing case studies, (c) arranging classrooms and other accomodations, and (c) partnering with lead sponsors and partnering community colleges across Washington.
Consulting and Business Development Center Administration
Develop, establish and execute a system to manage the center's alumni and donor relationships including initiating regular communication with donors at all levels and with mentors and advisors for students. This includes managing the center's online marketing and media, online communications, and alumni and donor databases.
Manage budget and procard reconciliation, execute budgeting and payment processing for CBDC. Insure compliance among all center staff with the university financial and records management policies.
* Oversees part-time student during peak work for the Center's events and management of contractors and vendors.

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, business, communications or a related field.
2 years experience in special events and/or marketing
Attention to detail and thoroughness
Experience in working in multicultural environments in the US
Experience juggling diverse work assignments that range in duration and time sensitivity, with frequent interruptions and emergent priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated applied skills in word processing, and other computer software, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
Experience with Adobe InDesign
Evidence of successful securing of event sponsorships
Being able to communicate in a language other than English
