Stockton University is seeking a person with an appreciation of the interdisciplinary nature of general studies to fill the position of Assistant Dean in the School of Arts and Humanities, a non-tenured managerial position. The School of Arts and Humanities employs sixty full and part-time faculty, forty adjunct faculty and fifteen staff. The School enrolls approximately 800 students in the following undergraduate programs: Studies in the Arts (Visual and Performing Arts), Communication Studies, Historical Studies, Literature, Languages and Culture Studies and Philosophy and Religion. A Master of Arts in American Studies is also housed in the School. In addition, the Performing Arts Center, the Noyes Museum, the Dean C. and Zoe S. Pappas Interdisciplinary Center for Hellenic Studies, the South Jersey Culture and History Center, and the Stockton Text Center are part of the School of Arts and Humanities.
The Assistant Dean, under the direction of the Dean, will be responsible for;
Developing and managing School operations such as curriculum and enrollment, including course scheduling, internships, and High School Dual-Credit partnership program
Strategic planning and budget analysis
Faculty workload and supervision of office staff and professional staff
Experience working with faculty and staff in a union environment
Ability to work with technology management systems in an educational setting
Marketing or recruitment experience
Ability to work independently and as an effective team member with a broad constituency of stakeholders both on and off
Resolution of student concerns, Adjunct faculty, Internships, Orientation programs, Commencement, oversight of specialized program facilities, and the School website and
The Assistant Dean functions as the proxy for the Dean, and works collaboratively with other Assistant Deans and staff at the University to achieve shared goals and
Demonstrate, through past accomplishments and actions, the ability to support Stockton University’s diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
M.A. in the Arts or Humanities or a closely related field of study.
Minimum of five years’ experience related to management, course scheduling and
Knowledge of Banner and Degree Works or comparable student information
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management
Salary for the position is nationally competitive, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The position is available February 1, 2018.
