The Department of Neurology and Rehabilitative Medicine Services is seeking an Assistant Editor/Credentialing Coordinator. In this newly created role, the Assistant Editor/Credential Coordinator will edit and coordinate academic and research related documents for the department/service in addition to serving as the sole point of contact to handle all departmental appointments, credentialing and promotions; including affiliated institution appointments/promotions (e.g. WCMC) and associated responsibilities.
Copy edits manuscripts, abstracts, letters, permissions, memos, statistical reports, patient questionnaires, CME materials, proposals, patient education materials, grant applications, foundation/donor reports, department/service newsletters, and other related documents for the department/service for submission to journals, publishers, grant sponsors, committees, meetings, book publication, marketing, other institutions, and groups; under the direction of the Administrative Manager, Business Manager, the Service Chief and/or the Administrator in order to support the operation of the Neurology and Rehabilitative Medicine Services.
Maintain, update and contribute to the development of document management systems for tracking editorial projects/manuscripts to produce reports (re: priority, productivity, status) for use by the department and external editorial/publishing groups.
Work directly with the Administrative Manager and interface with the Department Chair and/or Vice Chair to address and manage various aspects of appointments and promotions/credentialing operations.

Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Liberal Arts, Humanities or Science required, Master's degree preferred.
2-4 years experience in an editing environment such as publishing, newspaper or medical academic office required with strong writing/editing skills.
Experience in mechanical editing, copyediting, stylistic editing and proofreading required. Experience in substantive, developmental and plain-language editing desirable.
Knowledge of medical terminology; technical publishing; grammar, syntax and usage; new media, print and web-based writing processes.
Excellent preparation, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills required.
Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and organize electronic and print data/materials.
Proficiency in EndNote, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
