The Director is the chief academic and administrative officer for the University Honors Program, reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Undergraduate Programs, and will hold a 12-month faculty position. The Director will be responsible for working with the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University faculty and administration to foster excellence in educational and co-curricular activities for Honors students while strengthening the core role of the Program within the University. Most importantly, the Director will have a commitment to excellence in Honors education and a clear vision of the role and significance of an Honors Program within an 1890 land-grant doctoral research university

The North Carolina A&T State University Honors Program is unit on campus responsible for creating a series of programming, curricular and co-curricular that assists high-achieving students excel in their college careers. The A&T Honors Program is a community of enthusiastic scholars on campus, preparing students for career-shaping challenges and a lifetime of creative expression and idea exploration.

The Director will have an earned doctorate or terminal degree; have a record of teaching, scholarship, and grantsmanship to hold a tenured position; and have a demonstrated record of academic leadership, integrity, and administrative experience. The Director should also demonstrate a passion for working directly with students, and have a record of successful student mentorship, evidence of successful advocacy for student achievement, and administrative experience relevant to the management of a comprehensive Honors program or similar program working with students. The Director will have the ability to articulate the Program’s interests to constituents, as well as demonstrate success in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships, particularly with initiatives that support and recognize the accomplishments of high-achieving students.
Holds or has held a tenured position and would qualify for tenure with the appointment as Director.
