Summary Description: The Department of Anesthesiology of Columbia University seeks a Staff Associate to work directly under the supervision and direction of Dr. Lena S. Sun, E.M. Papper Professor of Pediatric Anesthesiology.The ideal candidate will conduct regular search to track and monitor ongoing and emerging research related to safety and toxicity of perinatal and childhood exposure to anesthetic agents and other drugs used during the perioperative period. Develop a database with a list of publications from scientific search databases, publications from professional societies websites, relevant publications from research databases at NIH, DOD and other funding agencies in research relates to safety and toxicity of perinatal and childhood exposure to drugs used during the perioperative period. Assist in the planning scientific symposia, workshops and panels in relevant research areas. Assist in the preparation reports and whitepapers on the status of research in SmartTots-related areas. Assist in the management of the SmartTots website, newsletters and other media mechanisms to promote communication with different stakeholder regarding SmartTots-related research. Assist in other research-related activities as deemed necessary by Dr. Lena Sun.The qualified applicant will hold an advanced degree, MPH, MS or PhD in biomedical sciences, with a minimum of 4 years of substantial background and experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, extensive and expertise in data analysis software programs (SAS, Stata, R), with documented record of excellence as a scientific writer and demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as Access and Photoshop. In addition, the qualified candidate must have a thorough understanding of all of the regulatory issues related to Human Research, HIPPA, PHI confidentiality, and data security.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must hold an advanced degree, MPH, MS or PhD in biomedical sciences, with an additional four years of experience.
