Project Administration consists of Facilities Contracts, Facilities Engineering, Project Intake, Small Project Management, Large Project Management, and Construction Management.
The Manager of Projects (MOP) provides a critical leadership role in the execution of Cornell University's capital construction projects. Responsibilities of the MOP include but are not limited to developing project programs, steering projects through the University, State and municipal approval processes, leading architect/engineer selection processes, managing AE contracts, participating in development of design, participating in interdisciplinary design reviews for constructability and code compliance, preparing general requirements (front-end) bid documents and contracts to ensure compliance with University and State requirements, managing project budgets, and managing construction and other project contracts through punch list and closeout. The MOP will be required to independently prioritize workload to meet the needs of the customer and alignment with individual project schedules. The MOP will develop and maintain effective working relationships with all project stakeholders including customers, University administrators, staff, and faculty, the State University Construction Fund, CCF staff, colleagues, and AE firms and contractors. Project-related activities require the use of proprietary software (eBuilder) recently implemented by the University.

Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or relevant field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience in commercial and institutional construction is required, specifically from the perspective of managing the entire project rather than a single element of the project. 7-10 years in a position related to design and construction, construction supervision, or construction management required. Ability to manage multiple complex and often interdependent projects with varying scope and multiple stages of completion. Significant leadership experience on major (up to ~$10M) capital projects and ability to drive projects to successful conclusion in a politically sensitive manner is required. Ability to anticipate problems and minimize negative impacts on campus/college/unit/department. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to build interpersonal relationships and must have effective organizational skills. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and MS Project is required. Ability to gain working knowledge of proprietary software (eBuilder), which is used for all project-related activities. Working knowledge of NYS Building Codes, National Electrical Code and other NFPA standards.
Master's Degree in a related field, New York State Licensed Engineer or Registered Architect and experience on a University campus. Experience on a University campus is preferred. Experience in the administrative side of construction. Proficiency with electronic project scheduling software. CMAA Certified Construction Manager certification.
