CoMotion has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Computer Specialist. We are looking for a Jack or Jill of all computer trades who can provide creative solutions across a broad range of computing needs. This position will be responsible, with minimal supervision, for providing technical leadership and expertise for IT Systems in CoMotion. Such support includes end-user computing support in coordination with UW-IT Nebula/Managed Workstations, encryption configuration to support university compliance efforts for data encryption, project management for systems assessment relating to new/updated systems including CRMs, databases, and websites. Other essential functions include maintenance of intranets, calendaring systems, and structural computing needs including AV hardware installation and troubleshooting and management of some systems including POS and DocuSign.
Technical scope requires deep systems knowledge and an ability to quickly learn and understand the existing systems design and patterns as well as maintain knowledge of IT standards for UW. The scope of tasks performed span all project phases including design, development, implementation and support.
This position will provide enhancements, support, and management of the CoMotion systems and solutions that are central to the services and operations of the CoMotion office and ultimately can directly influence how the office interacts with the UW community. This position is expected to help identify and evaluate existing and emerging technologies and their applicability to meet CoMotion's and UW needs.
With minimal supervision, this person will maintain coverage of all IT needs from end-user support to systems improvements. Stay current on emerging technologies by reading industry publications, attending seminars and classes, developing relationships with vendors and peers, evaluating software and products. Support Lean efforts when requested. Perform project management tasks.
Server Administration: 10%
Monitoring the performance of the server environment & taking appropriate action. Design and implement physical and virtual servers.
Endpoint Support: 50%
Install and Triage hardware end user desktop, laptops, and tablets as well as office AV equipment for 60+ staff primarily located off campus in the University District with small satellite locations on and near campus.
Coordinate as needed with UW-IT Managed Workstation services to maintain departmental hardware and software inventory and perform preventative maintenance procedures.
Configure, test, and install software.
Customize and maintain SharePoint servers and websites.
Design, implement, modify and maintain databases and related reports using MS SQL, SSRS, and SharePoint.
Utilize APIs to integrate operations between different systems.
Support mission critical applications.
Train system users in use of application software.
Business Systems Support: 40%
Working with staff of various experience and levels design, develop, document, and devise methods and processes to meet new and unique work requirements and problems.
Help form and manage user project teams to determine, review, and meet stated deadlines.
Create and follow formal test plans, documenting results.
Review off the shelf systems and work with outside vendors to implement new systems, make improvements to existing systems, or replace and sunset aging systems.
Assist with risk management, security compliance and business continuity planning.
Design, implement and test data recovery systems.

Bachelor's Degree in CSE, Business Information Systems, or related
3 years of direct end user support as well as management of IT systems
Experience installing, upgrading and troubleshooting Windows computers
Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software and operating system and network problems.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Possesses excellent oral and written communication and problem solving skills including ability to present documentation for training and testing that is professional in appearance, detailed, and accurate.
