Gannon University invites applications for the fundraising leadership position of Associate Vice President (AVP) for Development. This new team member will serve as a principal advisor to the Vice President for University Advancement and be responsible for enthusiastically leading a dynamic team of gift officers, managing gift processing/reporting and research that leads to successful achievement of strategic fundraising activities and goals. This position is responsible for raising significant philanthropic support by carrying a personal major gift portfolio. Flexible scheduling and local, regional and national travel are expected in order to cultivate and build relationships with alumni, friends, prospects, and donors. Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.
Qualifications include: a bachelor’s degree and eight years of substantial, progressively responsible and successful principal and major gifts fundraising experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Gannon is seeking someone with a track record of motivational leadership experience in a metrics-driven development shop, preferably in higher education; successful portfolio management and proven effectiveness of one-on-one cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift support; the ability to build effective relationships across campus with colleagues and stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees and National Alumni Board; the ability to lead a development office and campaign functions that utilize an effective moves management system; and the ability to deal with ambiguity and manage multiple projects. The successful candidate will have excellent relationship building and communication skills; and will lead with drive, passion, a team-oriented mindset, and high standards in order to achieve an extremely successful fundraising campaign.
