Assessment & Accreditation Program Specialist - (170001WX)
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Office of Institutional Research and Accountability has an opportunity for a part-time (20 hours per week, 0.5 FTE) Assessment & Accreditation Program Specialist. This position is benefit eligible (prorated, based on FTE). The Assessment & Accreditation Program Specialist provides design, measurement, analysis, and reporting expertise to ensure the quality and consistency of institutional effectiveness efforts across campus, including assessment activities conducted in support of institutional and program-level accreditation standards, and internal academic program review procedures. Serves as liaison between the Office of Institutional Research and Accountability and assessment staff within other schools and departments at UMB.

Works with schools and departments as a resource for quantitative and qualitative data collection instruments and techniques for assessment; data analysis, interpretation, and reporting methods; and practices related to reliability, validity, and trustworthiness to support integrity and accuracy of assessment data.
Supports student learning outcome assessment programs informing institutional and discipline-based accreditations, including appropriate planning for each stage of the accreditation cycle to ensure that the administration, analysis and reporting of assessment activities is conducted in a manner and time frame that facilitates accreditation.
Monitors and systematically reports accreditation status and assessment activities across all schools and programs at UMB.
Plans and obtains content and performs updates to the University Assessment website.
Staffs and participates in University-wide assessment committees, including an Accreditation and Assessment Unit and a Best Practices in Assessment Group.
Assists with responsibility for Middle States Annual Institutional Update and Verification of Compliance Report.
Develops and recommends University Assessment policies and standards.
Collects, analyzes, interprets, and disseminates assessment results to various campus stakeholders.
Serves as a resource for students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating desired assessment activities and program objectives supporting the University's mission.
Reviews, rates, and provides feedback to a select number of annual academic program outcomes assessment reports.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in social/behavioral science, education, statistics, or related field with coursework in research and assessment. Master's degree is preferred.
Experience : Two (2) years professional experience in academic assessment (preferred), program evaluation, or institutional research.
OR Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design and measurement techniques, including sampling procedures and issues of reliability and validity; demonstrated experience in designing, administering, and analyzing assessment instruments (e.g., rubrics, test blueprints, and surveys) and results.
Knowledge of assessment practices, student learning outcomes processes, and accountability issues regularly encountered in higher education.
Knowledge of institutional and/or professional accreditation requirements and procedures.
Knowledge of general survey design and administration techniques.
Skill with data management (data gathering, manipulation, and visualization), and surveying and assessment software.
Excellent analytical, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
