Carnegie Mellon University's H. John Heinz III College is seeking an Associate Director for the School of Public Policy and Management (PPM). The H. John Heinz III College consists of two schools, the School of Public Policy and Management and the School of Information Systems and Management, and offers an academic experience unlike any other. The Heinz College prepares students with a unique ability to conduct careful and objective analysis of relevant data, to understand and demonstrate the power of information technology, and to lead and implement change in managerial and policy contexts.
As the Associate Director, School of Public Policy and Management you will ensure that all School of PPM students are meeting academic degree requirements, serve on admissions and program committees, represent the university to a wide variety of constituents.
Core responsibilities will include:
Providing administrative management, academic advising, counseling and support to students enrolled in the MSPPM and MPM programs.
Review the students' progress to ensure that they are successfully completing academic requirements for graduation and counsel students with academic problems in order to help them be successful and meet their aspirations and goals.
Organizing capstone project courses, working with the Director of the School of PPM and the Program Committees to identify, create and manage curricular issues and activities, and organizing events and workshops.
Marketing the program to prospective students and organizations regionally and nationally, creating partnerships with organizations with the aim of developing student pipelines.

Therefore, we will look for you to be able to effectively interact and communicate with a varied, multi-cultural population of internal and external partners. You must be able to transport materials and set up event-related tables and displays.
Your ability to organize and manage multiple projects as well as your keen writing and presentation skills will contribute to your success. We will also expect you to bring with you strong computer proficiency with windows based applications including ACCESS, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Accuracy, integrity and a high level of professionalism are also critical components to your success in this role.
Finally, you should be able to travel both domestically and internationally and be able to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Management, Higher Education administration or relevant area.
Minimum three years of experience in the public sector, non-profit management, or higher education administration.
