Anderson University is seeking applicants to join our innovative Computer Science team as tenure-track faculty at the assistant professor, associate professor, or professor level beginning August 2018. We are seeking applicants dedicated to teaching, with an interest in supporting undergraduate research, and a heart to serve Christ. We place a premium on high-quality teaching, and especially welcome those who desire to contribute to one or more of our institutional objectives: encouraging undergraduate research, mentoring female and minority students, or participating in outreach to our local community through hackathons or STEM-related events. We seek faculty who possess a maturing Christian faith and are committed to the mission of Christian higher education.
The Anderson University Computer Science department was established in the late 1960's as one of the first computer science departments in the nation, and continues to educate quality graduates, of which more than 30% are female or underrepresented minorities, well above the national average. Recently, AU has initiated a National Security Studies Program, with majors in Information Security and National Security Studies. This program is one of the few interdisciplinary undergraduate cybersecurity majors in the country, providing undergraduates with the opportunity to learn from National Security Studies Fellows, as well as Anderson University President John Pistole, former TSA director and FBI deputy director. The University has recently received external funding towards the creation of a half-million dollar Cybersecurity Engineering Laboratory, as well as a state-of-the-art Situation Room modeled after the one in the White House.
Applicants should have completed or nearly completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science, with preference given to a focus in cybersecurity, information security, or a closely related area. Candidates will teach a mix of introductory level and upper level computer science courses. The following areas of interest are preferred, but consideration will be given to all specialties: Network configuration and protection, Highly scalable/advanced databases, Software security.
The department is planning to provide support to interested computer science faculty towards the completion of relevant cybersecurity certificates (such as the Certified Ethical Hacker certification). Opportunities for professional development funds and conference travel support are also available.
The review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Interested candidate should email a cover letter, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, statement of research interests (including how their research would be deployed with undergraduate students at a small liberal arts institution), faculty application, and statement of faith as described on the faculty application to Dr. Chad Wallace, Dean of School of Science & Engineering, @ firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, the application materials may be mailed to Dr. Wallace, Anderson University, 1100 East 5h Street, Anderson IN 46012. A background check will be required.
