The Assistant Vice President for Cardiovascular Services:
In partnership the CNO, and institute and service line leaders, sets the vision and strategic priorities for the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence- and consensus-based clinical guidelines and pathways resulting in safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care.
Provides collaborative executive leadership for the integration of state-of-the-science cardiovascular nursing practice, education and research to advance the delivery of nursing and inter-professional continuum-based care
Directly or indirectly advises/manages all service areas that impact quality patient care and operational efficiencies for the cardiovascular patient population.
Shall remain current with trends and changes in cardiovascular care and proficient in change management to build a collaborative and agile nursing workforce.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining appropriate hiring, staffing and scheduling practices, and assuring the nursing workforce is prepared to meet the competency requirements of the evolving service line.

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Nursing is a registered professional nurse with comprehensive responsibility for the assessment, problem identification, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and coordination of all processes which impact the quality and quantity of care delivered to the patients at their assigned facility. The AVP is responsible for employing strategies to foster health promotion, health teaching, and the provision of educational services and resources. Provides consultation to influence identified plans, enhance the abilities of others, and affects change in the organization. Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peer and colleagues and collaborates with all levels of nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders. The AVP assures the integration of ethical provisions in all areas of practice, integrates research findings into practice, and considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact of resources utilized in the planning and delivery of nursing and other services. Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession; and acts as an advocate for the protections and rights of individuals, families, communities, populations, healthcare providers, nursing, and other professions; and institutions and organizations, especially related to health and safety. Under the guidance of the AVP, evaluation of outcomes is completed in order to assure the quality of practice delivered by the facility is directed at improving care delivery and population outcomes. Adheres to the American Nursing Association (ANA) Code of Ethics, the ANA Scope and Standard for Nursing Practice, and the American Organization of Nursing Executives (AONE) Nurse Executive Competencies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in nursing
Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in leadership roles in a comparable health care entity
Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field (Preferred)
Management training (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Current registration with State of Florida Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse.

Maintains current knowledge of patient care delivery systems and innovations; is able to articulate various delivery systems and patient care models and the advantages/disadvantages of each. Determines when new delivery models are appropriate, envisions them, and implements as needed. Maintain knowledge of current nursing practice and the roles and functions of patient care team members.
Accountable for assuring compliance and provides evidence of performance with DNV and other regulatory requirements to operate nursing licensed beds. Operationalizes and assures compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Center for Disease and Prevention (CDC) and Patient Safety regulations at the service line level. Adheres to applicable practice standards that relate to their area of specialty.
Participates in nursing practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities, Nursing Sensitive Care (NSC) performance measures. Accurately documents and monitors activities from data received
Implements appropriate tracking systems for all success measures, and reports on these measures as requested. Manages data from all safety/risk/quality measurement systems and develops dashboards and feedback mechanisms that ensure transparency and open communication of data. Utilizes hospital database management, decision support, and expert systems programs to access information and analyze data from disparate sources for use in planning for patient care processes and systems.
Prepares, executes, and monitors departmental operating budgets to ensure appropriate staffing, professional development, space, supplies, and all equipment necessary for maintaining and improving the quality of services provided to patients and stakeholders. Ensures that all departments operate within allocated budget
Analyzes financial statements, manages financial resources, and educates team members on financial implications of patient care decisions. Reads and interprets benchmarking, financial, and occupancy data.
Develops and implements initiatives, processes, and create goals that align with the campus strategies while still supporting Florida Hospital System initiatives. Monitors relevant outcomes and provides suggestion for process change to ensure that the departments are providing services at a level that is appropriate for all stakeholders.
Develops and coordinates services that support the care physicians provide to patients
Directs and ensures performance improvement initiatives are happening on a continual basis within the Clinical Operations departments. Participates in process improvement and development of action plans to improve patient care processes. Identifies, reviews, and prioritizes opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of Clinical Operation departments.
Acts as a change agent, utilizing change theory to plan for the implementation of organizational change, supports staff during the change, and adapts leadership style to the situations of the change. Chairs committees at the campus or system level and encourages staff involvement in hospital based committees. Active participant or leader of clinical committees that affect patient care, outcomes and performance improvement.
Coordinates efforts to promote and provides information on the CREATION Health philosophy to the leaders and employees working in assigned departments.
Leads discussion and manages the workforce planning and employment decisions, champions a diverse workforce, interprets and evaluates employee satisfaction and quality of work surveys, taking action as needed to ensure a positive outcome.
Identifies employment requirements, functions, tasks and job specifications for positions within reporting structure rollup. Assesses job candidates’ skills and experience, and selects top talent in accordance with needs. Identifies future skill sets needed to maintain organizational competitiveness.
Oversees overall staffing for assigned area. Ensures staffing is effective and efficient; and promotes the delivery of quality care and core values. Assures that staff is representative of the population diversity through oversight of recruitment, selection and retention of personnel. Ensures that staff are actively engaged in decisions within their scope of practice
Ensures appropriate orientation for new staff and appropriate methodologies for ongoing competency assessment of staff. Monitors and ensures timely completion of performance evaluations, sets goals, and provides feedback and counseling to employees. Rounds with intention on the nursing units on regular basis, engaging staff and leading on maintaining environment of safety.
Assesses plans in order to address issues such as; ethnic, cultural, and diversity changes in the population; political and social influences; financial and economic issues; aging of society and demographic trends; ethical issues; and, environmental influences on health.
Nursing leadership resource for Nurse Managers and team to achieve nursing specific and hospital overall goals and accountabilities. Reviews data and engages with nursing leadership and other departments to meet five element dashboards and unit scorecards (hospital acquired conditions). Creates action plans to achieve positive outcomes.
Integrates Evidence Based Practice, or Best Practice initiatives into daily operations and care of patients and staff as applicable.
Plans and develops a complete succession plan for rollup up to and including own position. Identifies high performing staff and works with Leadership Development and Talent Management to groom staff to meet succession plan timelines and curriculum.
Participates in the implementation of bioterrorism, biohazard, and disaster readiness plans.
