The Purdue Polytechnic Institute invites nomination and applications for the position of Department Head, Technology Leadership & Innovation (TLI) at Purdue’s main campus in West Lafayette, IN. The recently reorganized TLI Department houses the Organizational Leadership (OL), Engineering –Technology Teacher Education (ETTE), Human Resources Development (HRD), core Polytechnic courses and curricula for the college, and Transdisciplinary Studies in Technology programs (TST). The department serves approximately 425 undergraduate students in these major in West Lafayette and at our Statewide Technology campuses, as well as approximately 100 graduate students in our on-campus master’s and PhD programs, and professional Weekend MS program cohorts. Undergraduate programs in the department are accredited by ATMAE and NCATE organizations. We are seeking a visionary leader who would welcome the opportunity and challenges of leading these programs, develop new programs in innovation and entrepreneurship, and create an internationally recognized department whose goals contribute to the solution of global, technological, social, and economic challenges of the 21st century through discovery, learning, and engagement. The Department Head will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and research.
Qualified candidates must have an earned doctorate in technology, engineering, management, education, or related fields, with qualification for the rank of full professor in the department. The successful candidate will have a record of sustained scholarly achievement, a commitment to students and learning, demonstrated experience in securing and managing grants, the ability to lead and mentor faculty to administrative skills in leading successful undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department Head reports to the Dean of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute and is responsible for administrative, budgetary, personnel, and academic oversight of programs offered at West Lafayette as well as through the Purdue Polytechnic Institute’s Statewide Technology System.
