Carilion Clinic has a full time Nurse Practitioner opportunity available with Velocity Care in Blacksburg, VA and at alternate sites as needed. Velocity Care provides walk-in medical services for non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. Hours of operation 7 a.m.- Midnight. Shift Information: Position day/evening shift with rotating weekends and holidays as needed and include primarily 12, 10, 8 and 4 hour shifts.

Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program, including preceptorship required.
Experience: One to three years experience preferred. Additional experience may be required for some specialties.
Licensure/Certification: Nurse Practitioner (NP), DEA and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred.
Other: Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine. Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier. Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
