Major Duties of the Position: Support faculty with design, development, and evaluation of blended and online courses and programs. Assist in the creation and promotion of quality design and instructional standards and processes that support student success and develop strategies to increase and improve online learning programs and services. Work with various college departments to ensure effective evaluation, planning, budgeting, and implementation of emerging learning technologies. Design and lead professional development activities. Ensure that all accreditation and regulatory requirements for online learning are met by effectively managing online course development, faculty training, mentoring and quality initiatives for online learning. Ensure accessibility issues related to online instruction are addressed and comply with applicable regulations in coordination with Disability Services.
Work with academic leadership, budget office personnel, instructional designers, information technology staff, enrollment service managers, and other stakeholders to develop and deliver innovative online learning.
Work across internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the design and management of the online programs are developed according to the timeline.
Maintain the focus on student success, high quality, and clear business processes.
Ensure that all project management standards are followed.
Establish and work toward achieving key performance indicators for the various phases of the project.
Maintain consistent and accurate status information, data, documentation, and audit trail for each project and implement a communication standards protocol.
Keep university stakeholders apprised of progress.
Identify opportunities and risks and develop contingency plans.
Implement a continuous improvement style, incorporating best practices and identifying root causes that are then addressed as problems arise.
Establish and adapt strong management of the project through phases, from development and implementation to improvement.
Serve on university-wide committees.
Collaborate with univerisity administrative offices as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Knowledge of online learning, project management, pedagogy and theory, basic budgeting skills, leadership abilities, and advanced knowledge of learning technologies in a higher education setting. Proven ability to self-motivate in a team-oriented and high pressure environment.
Master's degree preferred, Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum six years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility in this field. Three years of higher education experience and demonstrated success related to online learning and project management. Excellent analytical and communication skills. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and meet CGU’s authorized driver’s requirements.
Leadership experience and teaching experience are both preferred. Knowledge of Canvas. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. Demonstrated ability to work with faculty to improve online learning environments. Customer relations. Process design and experience managing multiple priorities. Innovation and change management.
