Under the supervision of the Career and Transfer Center Manager, provides, in a timely and professional manner, career/employment, transfer, and other support services to college’s students both at college’s facilities and in the field as assigned.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
Assists students, one-on-one or through group facilitated sessions, with resume writing, job search techniques, and interviewing skills among others.
Maintains a job board to communicate employment opportunities to students.
Assists students in obtaining internships, job shadowing opportunities, and places a required number of students into jobs.
Tracks students’ success in internship and jobs retention using the CTC’s tracking protocols.
Assists in the organizing of job fairs and employer visitation field trips.
Informs students about transfer planning workshops, fairs and events.
Counsels students to address their career and transfer needs and answers students’ questions related to these areas.
Develops long term working relationships with business and industry and responds to job opening requests by sending appropriate resumes to employers.
Creates and reproduces transfer and career related brochures, handouts, and other documents.
Maintains accurate and updated information about the Center’s services, and students served using the appropriate software.
Manages a portfolio of WIA, TAA/TRA, and other workforce development students following the Institute’s policies and procedures.
Assists with the provision of other student support services provided by the Center to students both at St. Augustine facilities and in the field.
Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Human Resources, Organizational Psychology or related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in an educational environment, in career or educational counseling, and job placement. Experienced dealing with companies and their employment needs.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook skills.
Ability to multi-task in a very fast-paced environment.
Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, employers, and other partners.
Sensitivity to socially and ethnically diverse communities.
Bilingual Spanish and English required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
