Reporting to the Horticulture Division Chair at Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute (OSU/ATI), the Staff Horticulturist provides instructional support to faculty in the areas of plant materials, weed science, plant diseases, turfgrass science, irrigation and drainage, and landscape design and construction; assists in providing demonstrations and guiding student lab activities; assists with student experiential learning through landscape practicum instruction, supervision and assessment; collaborates as part of the horticulture team; to plan, install, enhance and maintain gardens; serves as the lead staff member responsible for the campus tree and shrub collection; plans, prioritizes, organizes and executes daily work plans; prepares landscape sites for state and national competitions, certification testing and horticultural events; consults with faculty, staff and industry; fosters diversity and inclusion and serves as a professional role model to students.

Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or an equivalent combination of education and experience; broad knowledge of plant materials and their cultural needs; landscape/garden design experience; strong knowledge of landscape construction fundamentals and practices; tree care experience; prior experience operating large and small power equipment, hand and power tools.
ISA Certified Arborist Certification; prior supervisory experience; public garden or commercial property maintenance experience; Ohio Pesticide Applicator License. Candidate will be required to become licensed within the first 6 months of employment if they do not have one.
Target Salary: $15.51 - $19.97 Hourly
