The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Office of Development & Alumni Relations is currently seeking a Development Associate II . Reporting to the Associate Director of Annual Giving, this position will support the Director and Associate Directors of Annual Giving, the Associate Director of Donor Relations, and their work implementing and managing the annual fund and donor relation/stewardship programs for UMB. This position will be a valued participant in a multi-faceted annual fundraising program, which employs traditional and web-based solicitation strategies to encourage and increase support from alumni and friends and a comprehensive donor relations program which ensures appropriate donor acknowledgment, stewardship, recognition and engagement.

Represents the University and the Office of Philanthropy in person, email, and by phone.
Assists in the writing, editing, and fulfillment of various development materials.
Regularly input and update information on both donor entity and appeal records.
Prepares and distributes all invoices, both internal and external, to schools for prompt payment or reimbursement.
Prepares regularly occurring and ad hoc reports on donor trends, participation rates, and the like.
Involved in data management and day-to-day support activities, especially during peak times for donations and gift reporting. Due to the nature of fundraising and donor relations, full office and telephone coverage are important operational needs to all employees share responsibility.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's Degree.
Experience: Two (2) years fundraising or other development experience, preferably in one or all of the following areas: annual giving, phonathons, alumni relations, donor relations, or stewardship. Related experience may be substituted for in lieu of education. Knowledge of Advance database software is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Possesses a knowledge of annual fund solicitation and fundraising techniques and procedures and donor relations and/or stewardship best practices. Ability to maintain high standards with the work being performed and maintain awareness with trends and influences. Assumes personal responsibility for all outcomes; makes effective and timely decisions; Knowledge and expertise with office computer systems and relevant programs including Microsoft Office and Outlook. Maintains productivity and uses knowledge strategies to increase knowledge base. Ability to multi-task, observe deadlines, prioritize, and execute assignments with attention to detail with limited supervision.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Writes and presents solicitation and acknowledgment materials information in a clear and concise way. Interprets and understands written information and is able to listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. Capable of interacting pleasantly and positively with other to meet customer expectations, and provide follow up with customers.
