Summary: The Safe Office On-Call Responder provides immediate after-hours response to Wake Forest Reynolda campus students who have been subjected to sexual harassment, assault, domestic/relationship violence, or stalking. Coordinates long-term and follow-up responses with the Assistant Director of the Safe Office. This position requires on-call response 24-hours a day on weekends, as assigned.
Be accessible by cell phone at all times during scheduled on-call shifts to respond to incidents of sexual assault, domestic/relationship violence or stalking.
Responds to all calls for assistance or questions about resources regarding sexual and domestic/relationship violence and stalking.
In the event of a reported incident, provides immediate response to the survivor following applicable University policies and guidelines and protocols established by the Assistant Director of the Safe Office. Response may include, but is not limited to, providing confidential consultation to the individual, accompanying the individual to the hospital or to meet with legal/police authorities and connecting the individual to appropriate campus and community resources.
Provides follow-up assistance and response as directed by the Assistant Director of the Safe Office.
Consults with the Assistant Director of the Safe Office as appropriate during and after responses.
Completes all necessary and required paperwork, filing reports immediately after a response with Safe Office staff.
Receives initial and on-going training as necessary on applicable Wake Forest University protocols and procedures.
Meets bi-weekly for supervision with the Safe Office team, or more frequently if circumstances warrant.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 20 hours of documented training in sexual assault and domestic/relationship violence response.
One to two years of experiencing responding to incidents of sexual and domestic/relationship violence.
Understanding of applicable privilege communication laws and the ability to manage confidential information and to use sound judgment in responding to crisis situations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, administrators, parents and external agencies.
Ability to meet the requirements of the University’s automobile insurance.
Responsible for own work.
