Job Description:This position is an SHRA position reporting the Video Manager in University Communication with additional guidance from the Director of Art and Media. This position is a videographer and editor for video production projects requested from across East Carolina University. Duties encompass all types of phases of video production and story telling: studio and staged marketing shoots to news gathering and event coverage. Work may include camera operation, audio capture, set lighting, media archiving/storage, and post-production. Additional working knowledge includes, but is not limited to the set up and operation of production gear, assistance with set construction, audio set up and mixing, as well as rigging and adjusting lights. This position will be responsible for assisting in determining equipment needs as well as operating contemporary HD video and audio equipment, including diverse camera platforms: Canon DSLRs, Panasonic GH-4, Blackmagic Design (URSA and Cinema 4K) and GoPro. This position will be utilizing HD and 4K, audio capture with Zoom H4 and H6, plus boom and camera mounted mics, and requires working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Audition and Prelude along with Adobe post-production software: Premier, After Effects and media Encoder. Employee must have the ability to use the full capabilities of the equipment and software to optimize output and to be able to make aesthetic judgments regarding production values. Work may be performed at varying levels of independence, creative and technical decision-making in a single camera, multi-camera, studio or on location setting. Work includes assisting in maintenance and upkeep of equipment. Assignments will encompass a broad range, including marketing videos for diverse audiences, news features, interviews, performing crew duties on formal productions, and live event coverage on short notice. 1. Participates in all aspects of contemporary media production from preproduction through distribution of the final product on varied platforms. 2. Establishes working knowledge partnered with skills in various HD and 4K video equipment and postproduction software; assists in creative and innovative ways to deliver products across multiple mediums. 3. Works collaboratively to support student success and University strategic directions, in accordance with University image styles and standards. 4. Cultivates and maintains professional relationships with clients or customers by listening, identifying needs, and responding accordingly. 5. Participates in assisting student staff and interns in the areas of news gathering, project planning, equipment utilization, cataloging/archiving, lighting techniques, casting of talent, script writing, directing, location scouting, post production editing, export and compression techniques, and final broadcast to tv, web, and social media outlets. 6. Provides creative and technical decision-making that enhances the aesthetic quality of a project through artistic techniques, tools and talents, including comprehensive familiarity with Adobe Premiere and After Effects platforms. 7. Assists in equipment organizing and maintenance, as well as digitizing footage and maintaining video logs and media storage. 8. Assists in annual and preventive maintenance, as well as digitizing footage and maintaining video logs and media storage. 9. Performs other related duties as required to accomplish the responsibilities and functions of the office.
Miniumum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will possess: 1. Undergraduate degree 2. Recent and extensive video production and new media experience in a media production environment. 3. Proficient use of Macintosh computers, HD and 4K video and DSLR camera systems, audio and lighting equipment and Adobe Production Suite and related graphics applications on a daily basis. 5. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations. Salary Grade Equivalent: 61 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
