Job Description:The Department of Surgery is seeking a Physician Extender II for the Transplant Division. Clinical duties includes: care of inpatient transplant patients, attending outpatient clinics, and, if interested, participating in surgical transplant and vascular access procedures. Additional responsibilities will include participating in all aspects of education of patients and student learners, research studies/protocols, and multi-disciplinary rounds. This person will join a growing team of providers including pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and a nurse practitioner. The work schedule will vary according to patient and clinical needs and may include hours before 8:00 am and after 5:00 pm. CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Miniumum Qualifications: Graduation from a physician assistant program approved by the N.C. Board of Medical Examiners and approved to practice medical acts based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or licensed as a registered nurse by the Board of Nursing and graduation from a nurse practitioner program approved by the N.C. Joint Subcommittee, and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. This position is subject to the Broad Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at a Physician Extender II level, management may consider candidates at the Physician Extender I level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
